Interesting twist on Swine Flu in Hong Kong

Tell a Friend
According to a story in Bloomberg News, the H1N1 virus has now spread widely in Hong Kong and has in fact emerged as the predominant flu strain in the city.

Thomas Tsang, controller of the Center for Health Protection said that one in eight i.e. 12.5% of those who visited government-designated clinics tested positive for the virus.

Interestingly, and apparently on account of the fact that the virus has spread so widely locally and emerged as the predominant flu strain in the city, the Hong Kong's health authorities have decided that they will no longer require isolation of mild human swine flu patients in hospitals.

Those infected with the flu in Hong Kong (but only if it’s mild) are now officially allowed to happily go around spreading it to others...strange way to contain an outbreak.
